Upon visiting Mountain Kingston Bilingual School Suzhou, I was awestruck by its unique architecture. The school stands as a landmark of modernity amidst the ancient city of Gusu. As I wandered through the campus, every step revealed a new vista, presenting a contemporary and creative landscape from every angle. The translucent walls of the buildings allowed students to gaze into the distance and indulge in their imaginations, fulfilling the mission of Mountain Education Group to “empower every student through education”. During my conversations with the incoming students, their excitement was palpable as they described how novel and fascinating they found the library, the underwater translucent reading room, and the jagged peaks of the buildings. Indeed, "Diligence is the path to the mountain of knowledge, pursue excellence and success will follow" encapsulates its educational philosophy. The campus also boasts a quirky Grand Theater, a Black Box Theater with movable walls, gardens themed after the four seasons, underground mazes, dripping water features, and a magical staircase in the courtyard. These features encourage students to engage in imaginative thinking and unrestricted exploration during their contextual learning experiences. At this school, we are committed to providing our students with even more diverse and enriching teaching innovations and creative activities, empowering them to develop their innovative mindset and creative capabilities.
Shanghai Moutain Education Group has also established an Education Research Institute, which has specially invited educational experts to research and develop the unique "One Body, Two Wings" curriculum for cultivating innovative talents at MKBS. This curriculum aims to comprehensively implement the five aspects of education, namely moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education, and promote all-round education. The school implements a school-based curriculum with national courses as the main body. It takes the improvement of application ability and the cultivation of innovative literacy as two wings to realise the objectives of "cultivating our students to become pillars of the future who will see the world by scaling its highest peaks, seek innovation and win the future, and become internationalized talents who aspire to serve the country, change the society, and promote the peace and development of the world."
Facing the future, Moutain Education aims to cultivate many new-era idealistic, skilled, and responsible talents. MKBS has launched innovative experimental classes for fifth and sixth-grade students, carrying out innovative teaching experiments such as cross-disciplinary humanities teaching in Chinese, training in mathematical logic thinking and independent thinking ability, English cultural activities integrating Chinese and Western cultures, bilingual expansion applications, and so on. At the same time, it is promoting scientific courses such as robotics, programming, and 3D printing. MKBS will comprehensively create a new educational ecosystem for bilingual schools based on the practices of innovative experimental classes, summing up practical experiences through scenario-based teaching and scene experiences, as well as the introduction and application of advanced information technology.
With a global perspective, Mountain Kingston Bilingual School has established a partnership with Kingston Grammar School, which has a history of over 460 years of educational excellence. Through this collaboration, MKBS has introduced Kingston's highly effective extended courses, science and art creation courses, and exchange and visit programs between Chinese and British students. These initiatives provide a solid foundation for MKBS students to broaden their horizons and foster innovation.
We have entered a new era of comprehensive and deep-seated reform in education, and it is the unshirkable mission of basic education to cultivate talent for a strong nation and cultivate top-notch talents. In the fertile ground of innovative talent cultivation at Mountain Kingston Bilingual School Suzhou, we will continuously explore and innovate in practice to achieve our educational mission of "establishing an innovative school of global influence, embracing humanistic values, independent thinking, and multiculturalism and providing a future-oriented whole-person education rooted in China and open to the world."
